My Brother's Graduation

Kevin

Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn't get you anywhere.
-Van Wilder
For my brother's high school graduation announcements, we decided to have a little fun. His initial idea was him standing in a suit, with water being thrown at him. However, I told him that the idea didn't really make sense, plus water is really hard to photograph. We went to Party City and found a bunch of confetti, silly strings, and to top it all off, balloons with his name on them. We set up a mock studio outside in our courtyard, using lamps from the living room to light the place. The makeshift setting added to the photo though, and my brother loved the photo. Congratulations, little brother, on graduating!

Fairies

I do Believe in Fairies

Brooke and Sarah are two of my sorority sisters. Sarah is an art major and needed a photo to base a drawing off of. The drawing needed to be something that had a meaningful interaction between two people. Brooke is Sarah's Big Sister in our sorority, and they have a very close friendship. They came up with the idea of wearing dresses and fairy wings, and basically I just sat back and photographed their interactions. It was wonderful how these photos came out with such a candid feel.

Stumbling upon Fairies

I love how this picture looks like the viewer is peering through the willow branches to happen upon two fairies. The reflections in the water make the are seem so magical and rare, even though it was just a few feet from a street.

Baby and Mama

Before and After

I did Sarah's maternity shoot back in May. I finally got to meet her new baby Brooklyn, now three months old. Unfortunately I was abroad and then sick, so was unable to do a photoshoot until now. When Sarah brought out the dress that we had used in the maternity shoot, I thought it would be a great idea to do the same pose but instead of the empty dress, Brook would be in it. I love the composition and love this picture!

Big Yawn

We had woken Brooklyn up from her nap to do the photoshoot, so she was a little sleepy. I wanted some pictures with Sarah rocking her baby, and absolutely love how this one turned out. Such a peaceful moment.

Holding Hands

Sarah's expression is just pure happiness. I love that Brooklyn is holding her mommy's finger. An absolutely beautiful moment.

Kari and Tim's Wedding

Kisses at Dusk

This was my first wedding to ever shoot. I was very excited about this opportunity and learned a lot during the experience. To get this shot I laid on the ground and shot up to get the beautiful dress in such detail. Overall I'm proud of how the photos turned out, and am looking forward to doing more weddings in the future!

Lacing the Dress

I stayed in the bride's room to photograph the party getting ready while the photographer I work with, Mike, went to photograph the guys. I loved the detailed stitching on the dress, and wanted to photograph the bridesmaids lacing up the dress. They were having a bit of difficulty getting it tight enough, so I had plenty of time to line up the perfect shot.

Details

While the bride was putting on her makeup, I decided to set up a little still life of the details of the wedding. The bridesmaids each held a single red rose, so I placed them on the wedding dress and added the bride's jewelry around them. The details of the wedding were my favorite thing to shoot!

Bride and Groom Champagne Glasses

The bride and groom had special champagne glasses that were engraved with their names and date of the wedding. Red rose petals were all over the table, and I laid the glasses on their side and placed the petals inside them. This is one of my favorite shots of the wedding, and I love how the glass in the foreground is out of the focal field.
